Rental Terms

Master Vehicle Rental Agreement

Review the material terms in the finalized RentMeCT Master Vehicle Rental Agreement. During checkout, every customer receives the complete agreement and auto-filled rental addendum for review before electronic signing. The stored signed copy controls the final terms for that rental.

Vehicle & Condition

Each rental vehicle is identified in the rental addendum by make, model, year, VIN, plate, and odometer. Renters accept the vehicle in good working order unless noted and must return it in the same condition, ordinary wear and tear excepted.

Rental Term

The rental begins and ends on the dates and times listed in the rental addendum. Same-day rentals may be allowed after identity and license approval. Late return may create extra charges and may be treated as unlawful retention.

Driver Qualifications

Renters must be at least 21 years old and have a valid, unexpired driver's license. Renters under 25 may be charged a young driver fee. Only approved drivers listed in the rental addendum may operate the vehicle.

Payment, Deposits & Mileage

Rentals include 250 miles per day. Extra mileage is $0.35 per mile unless unlimited mileage is purchased. Security deposits and post-rental charges may range from $200 to $2,000 depending on vehicle class, damage, cleaning, policy violations, or other contract issues.

Authorized Charges

Renters authorize charges for rental fees, excess mileage, tolls, tickets, cleaning, smoking, damage, loss of use, diminished value, towing, storage, recovery, repossession, fuel, administrative fees, attorneys' fees, and other rental-related costs.

Insurance

Every customer must be insured. Renters may bring their own valid auto insurance, review the third-party insurance options provided on this website, or opt for available Wheelbase insurance options during checkout. Unless expressly provided in writing, Rent Me CT does not provide primary insurance.

Insurance Communication Authorization

The renter authorizes Rent Me CT, LLC and its authorized representatives to communicate with the renter’s insurer, agent, broker, or claims administrator to verify coverage, confirm policy information, discuss or submit claims, exchange documents, and resolve rental-related insurance matters. The renter agrees to cooperate with reasonable verification and claims requests.

Pickup, Drop-Off & Fuel

Pickup and drop-off services may be offered only when approved by Rent Me CT. Local pickup or return transportation within 15 miles may carry a $30 fee each way. Vehicles must be returned with the same fuel level and the manufacturer-recommended fuel type; refueling may include actual fuel cost plus a $20 service fee.

Late Return & Recovery

At 30 minutes after the scheduled return time, a vehicle that has not been returned without prior approval is assessed a $25 late-return fee. If the vehicle remains unreturned for more than 2 hours after the scheduled return time without prior approval, the renter is also assessed one additional full rental day at the applicable daily rate, in addition to the $25 late-return fee. Rent Me CT may send courtesy reminders approximately 24 hours and 3 hours before the scheduled return time, with timing adjusted when necessary to keep delivery between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Failure to receive, open, or read a reminder does not change the scheduled return obligation or waive late-return charges. Where legally permitted and reasonably safe, the vehicle may be disabled; a $50 reactivation fee applies. Recovery and retrieval charges begin at $80 and may increase with distance, labor, tolls, storage, timing, condition, or related circumstances.

Damage Responsibility

Renters are responsible for all vehicle damage during the rental period regardless of fault, including physical damage, misuse-related mechanical damage, theft, vandalism, loss of use, diminished value, towing, storage, and administrative fees.

Accidents & Reporting

Renters must immediately notify Rent Me CT of any accident, collision, theft, or damage. Renters must cooperate with Rent Me CT and law enforcement and file a police report when required.

Cleaning & Smoking

Vehicles must be returned reasonably clean. Excess dirt, stains, trash, pet hair, strong odors, bodily fluids, sand, smoke residue, or abnormal cleaning needs may result in an $80 or higher cleaning fee. Smoking is strictly prohibited and may result in a $200 to $2,000 remediation fee.

Prohibited Uses

Vehicles may not be used by unauthorized drivers, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, for racing, towing, pushing, unauthorized rideshare or delivery work, illegal activity, or travel outside permitted geographic areas. Prohibited use is a material breach.

Tickets, Tolls & Violations

Renters are responsible for all tolls, traffic violations, parking citations, and related administrative fees incurred during the rental period. Rent Me CT may transfer liability or charge the renter directly.

GPS & Telematics

Vehicles may include GPS and telematics for theft prevention, recovery, speed monitoring, diagnostics, and driving behavior. Speeds over 90 mph are not permitted. After the third excessive-speed or reckless-driving warning, the vehicle may be disabled where legally permitted and reasonably safe; a $100 reactivation fee applies.

Vehicle Inspection, Recall & Alterations

Renters may not alter, repair, customize, tamper with, or install equipment on the vehicle without prior written consent. Rent Me CT may require a reasonable inspection during the rental to verify condition, mileage, location, maintenance, or agreement compliance. Failure to cooperate may result in termination, recovery, restoration costs, additional fees, and other lawful remedies.

Out-of-State Travel

The rental addendum identifies whether out-of-state travel is permitted or prohibited for the specific rental. Unauthorized interstate travel is a material breach of the agreement.

Rental Addendum

Each signed agreement includes a rental-specific addendum identifying the renter, vehicle, VIN and plate, rental start and end, return location, daily rate, young-driver fee, mileage terms, security deposit, transportation fees, out-of-state permission, and any additional authorized drivers.

Legal Terms

The agreement is governed by Connecticut law. Disputes must be brought in Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of New Britain. Renters may be responsible for reasonable attorneys' fees, court costs, collection costs, and enforcement expenses. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
